CARDIAC REHABILITATION
A sub group of the Network has been established to take forward work around rehabilitation
across North West London. The remit of this Group will be to make recommendations
for a minimum level of service provision for cardiac rehabilitation across the
North West London sector. The group will prioritise the development of services
to improve the delivery and quality of cardiac rehabilitation, including prehab,
across the whole of the patient pathway.
The Task Group is set up with representatives from across the North
West London sector based on the Acute Trusts and associated Primary Care
Trusts.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Commissioning Pack - the Strategic Commissioning Development Unit at the Department of Health and NHS Improvement have worked together to develop a Commissioning Pack for Cardiac Rehabilitation. The Pack is designed to:
-Provide materials to help PCTs stimulate interest and contract effectively with both incumbent and new providers
-Include service specifications and procurement templates which will focus on ensuring the delivery of high-quality responsive care, while allowing providers flexibility to develop innovative delivery models
-Include advice to commissioners on procurement, contractual matters and issues such as pricing and risk mangement
-Be capable of being adapted to encourage innivative delivery models and reflect local circumstances
-Minimise unwarranted variations in the delivery of care: early diagnosis and managing conditions better prevents expensive exacerbations, with benefits throughout the health system
Please (CLICK HERE) for the draft version of the pack. The final version is due to be released later this Summer (2010)

CARDIAC REHABILITATION: PATIENT SURVEY REPORT
A cardiac rehabilitation patient satisfaction survey was developed by the patient and public information sub-group of the Cardiac Network, the Heart 2 Heart (H2H) User Forum. The H2H User Forum were keen to gauge patients' views on the various aspects of cardiac services across NW London and decided to undertake a series of patient satisfaction. The questionnaires were developed to capture information from patients who have completed phase III of their rehabilitation programme.
A report has been published from the analysis of the survey, enabling them to initiate service improvements where needed and highlighting areas of good practice.
