BACKGROUND
The objective in creating networks in the NHS is to bring together clinicians,
other professionals and managers from all the organisations so that they
can work together to improve services for patients. A network makes it
possible for clinicians and organisations to develop linkages and consistent
approaches across the whole of a patient’s potential experience
of services and over a large geographical area. It makes it easier to
gain a good view over the whole range of provision and of how the whole
system is working. |
THE NORTH WEST LONDON CARDIOVASCULAR & STROKE NETWORK
The North West London Cardiac and Stroke Network (NWLCSN) was developed in 2003 with the support of the Strategic Health Authority and local NHS organizations. It has recently changed its name in July 2011 to the North West London CardioVascular & Stroke Network.
The role of the network is to bring together clinicians and managers from all constituent organisations to improve cardiac, stroke and vascular services across North West London. The network implements both national improvement initiatives, as set out by the Stroke and Cardiac Improvement teams in NHS Improvement, as well as delivers local London-wide change programmes. The network also works with providers to monitor quality and performance standards across the whole pathway of care and assure commissioners as to the quality of care provided
The Network has two Steering Groups which consists of both clinical and non-clinical representatives
from across North West London
