Commissioning Support for London (CSL)
has published a proposed model of care for future cardiovascular services in London. The work focuses on three key areas: vascular surgery, cardiac surgery and cardiology. CSL is seeking input from patients and the public before the models are passed on to local health commissioners to sconsider later in the year. Please review the cardiovascular documents and respond to the online survey by the 31st October deadline.

Department of Health - End of Life Care Strategy: second annual report
In July 2008 the DOH published the End of Life Care Strategy - promoting high quality care for all adults at the end of life. This second annual report sets out the continuing progress in implementing the strategy.

The new London Stroke Strategy will go into full effect, providing all Londoners with rapid access to stroke care.

Department of Health 'Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS'.
The Secretary of State for Health Andrew Lansley set out the Governments ambitious plans to reform the NHS during this Parliament and for the long-term. The White Paper 'Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS' was published on Monday 12th July. (CLICK HERE) for further details.

Carotid Revascularisation Endarterectomy vs Stenting Trial (CREST)
Results announced at the European Stroke Forum in May 2010, Barcelona - conclusion was that endarterectomy remains the preferred treatment for most patients with systomatic carotid stenosis; treatment for asymptomatic stenosis remains controversial.
